We met in college and instantly became very close friends. After a very short time together, we discovered that we shared the same faith, values and lifestyle.

In the years after graduation, we lost touch. We never forgot about the friendship and the good times we shared. While we were apart, we both learned valuable life lessons from our past relationships. These experiences have made us better partners for each other and has helped to make us better parents.

After years of being apart we reunited. From that day forward, we knew that we would spend the rest of our lives together.

Once we got married, we wanted to start a family right away. After a year of trying to become pregnant, we sought the help of infertility specialists. To our surprise at our first visit, we were already pregnant. We suffered a miscarriage. We continued to try and conceive a baby, with the help of doctors, for many years. The whole process became more of a science project than an act of love. We decided to stop all treatments.
Adoption would allow us to conceive a baby in love.

The trials and tribulations we have worked through together during these years have made us stronger as a couple. We have a loving and stable marriage. We have a deeper love and understanding for each other. We hope to one day share this love with a child.

We began sharing our plan to adopt a child with those around us. We have met many couples in our community who have been raising adoptive children and who are always encouraging us in our efforts. Both of our families have been overwhelmingly supportive, excited and ready to provide unconditional love and acceptance. Our friends couldn’t be happier, especially one of our closest friends, whom we helped 10 years ago put together their profile. They have since adopted a baby girl.

The focus of our marriage, friendships and careers revolve around our desire to build our family and to be the best parents we can be. Maria can’t wait to be a stay-at home mom. Robert is looking forward to being a dad who can provide for his family while being available and involved in raising a child.
